This was an usual project for me – it came about when a fellow resident artist at Oxheys Mill Studios happened to gain access to a number of sheep skulls, in itself as a result of the Woolly Thinking project we were collaborating on at the time. As soon as I saw the skulls I knew how I wanted to photograph them, so borrowed them for a few hours and quickly setting up a dark area in my studio I set to work. It was fascinating as I had never really worked with anything quite like this before. I was really pleased with the results although not entirely sure how I would use them.
A few of the images are shown here. I loved doing this, simply as it was so different to the work I usually do and as a result, created an interest in photographing fossils which is an ongoing project.
