Denise Swanson is a professional fine art nature photographer, specialising in flowers and botanicals, based in Lancashire in the UK. Her unique images have been published widely and won numerous prestigious awards, with some work held in permanent print collections.
She has an MA in Fine Art and Fellowships in both Fine Art and Cultural Heritage* Photography with the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP) and also specialises in artwork photography providing imaging and fine art printing for artists, curators, galleries.
With a more abstract view of the natural world, her images explore the inherent patterns, textures and natural designs, sometimes with an almost impressionist style, to reveal the hidden elements of nature. These original, artistic, colourful and contemporary images are available to licence for illustrative, commercial or editorial use, or to purchase as fine art prints and greeting cards. Selected images can be reproduced as large canvas prints or as wall art for interior design. Browse the collections or search for an image by keyword such as name, colour or season. Her practice is research-led, allowing her to pursue self-initiated projects which allow more freedom for creativity and artistic interpretation, where vision and imagination can take precedence over technique or convention.
Inspired by nature, I especially enjoy capturing abstracted images of what I see around me. An introspective view of the natural world allows me to observe carefully, question and examine with my camera and then share what I find. My photography is about vision but not just what you see with your eyes: I am much more interested in making images that reflect how I feel, my thoughts and memories, the anticipation and the sense of experience. The results may sometimes be nothing more than fleeting impressions but hopefully they convey those feelings: the sense of wonder and disquiet as unknown worlds are discovered and then revealed through the lens - it is a fascinating way to learn and to share what you discover.
