Fine Art Photography Training Day

Fine art photography requires thinking differently about making images so the first session covers the 'why' as well as the 'what' and 'how', encouraging discussion and debate and hopefully dispelling some myths. The next session covers more business-orientated topics such as the importance of adding of metadata to images, issuing licenses, copyright and intellectual property rights, looking at each within a fine art context.

The first afternoon session concentrates on planning a fine art digital workflow, covering the importance of planning and refining a workflow, processing RAW files and the production of a fine print. The stages from initial image capture through to producing the final print are discussed along with printers and printing issues, fine art papers and presentation.

Some discussion and ideas on marketing and selling work as fine art, the day concludes with informal assessment of work from participants.

Recently run as a one-day fine art photography training course for the BIPP where participants were all professional photographers at varying levels of ability and experience, all looking at ways to extend their practices into the fine art genre.

With some excellent feedback received from all participants, more courses are planned - meanwhile please contact me to be added to the mailing list.
