Never Mind Spring - This is More Like Summer!
I can’t believe how quickly the weather has changed here - only a short time ago, it was still bleak and miserable but now the sun is shining, it is warm enough for t-shirts outside as well as in, the birds are busily nesting in the garden and trees are already blossoming! There are flowers which shouldn’t be out yet, trees with blossom earlier than they should be and birds everywhere.
We seem to have some house sparrows nesting in the hedge at the bottom of our garden and two different blackbirds nesting. The male has been strutting his stuff on the garden fence for a while, waking us up at some silly hour with his singing - it is quite amazing how loud he sings! It seems to have worked though, as there are two females busily rummaging around and picking up nesting materials. One is building in a small tree on the left of the garden whilst the other I spotted from an upstairs window, going into the hedge on our neighbours side at the bottom. The male now sits proudly watching them both from a cherry tree which gives him a good vantage point.
