A professional photographic artist and printmaker based in Preston, Denise is an approved BIPP Assessor, sits on the CPD Advisory Board and represents the BIPP on the British Copyright Council, the British Photographic Council and on two sector-specific advisory groups with the Intellectual Property Office. Denise is also an independent Photo Imaging industry assessor with Creative Skillset, gives talks as a visiting lecturer and writes articles for The Photographer.
In 2011 Denise co-founded Oxheys Mill Studios in Preston, an artist-run studios and exhibition space, where she has a studio and runs workshops along with curating and organising exhibitions with resident, local and regional artists.
Denise rediscovered a love of photography after a brain injury required a career and lifestyle change. With over 20 years in sales and marketing management and a background in graphic design, she began offering freelance design services but quickly realised photography was what she wanted to do. Covering sports, editorial and events, including a stint as picture editor for a news agency, she soon had images published worldwide.
It was her love of nature and a creative vision that produced the unique artistic style in her personal work. Earning a number of awards, these images have been used as book and CD covers, published in various journals worldwide and as fine art prints have been bought by collectors in the UK and around the world.
Gaining MA in Fine Art and a Fellowship in Fine Art photography with the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP), Denise enjoys a unique ability to relate with other visual artists, so alongside her own practice, she collaborates and provides photography and fine art printing services for a growing number of visual artists and other photographers.
